Windracers recognised in UK Government and NATO announcement on drone production

Windracers, the British drone engineering and manufacturing company, has been recognised as a trusted partner by the UK Government and NATO as part of their plans to expand drone production and supply to Ukraine.

The announcement, published on GOV.UK, forms part of a major initiative that has seen more than 85,000 drones delivered to Ukraine in the past six months and £600 million invested to boost capability and supply across the UK’s defence industry.

Windracers ULTRA, a dual-use heavy-lift drone is among the platforms contributing to this growing industrial effort. Windracers CEO Simon Muderack said: “We welcome the government’s announcement and are proud to be part of the UK’s growing industrial base supporting defence and security.

“At Windracers, we’re scaling ULTRA production and advancing platform capabilities to meet complex mission demands. This recognition highlights the value of homegrown innovation and the importance of maintaining a strong sovereign supply chain.”

With operations expanding to deliver hundreds of Windracers ULTRA aircraft over the next two years, the company continues to strengthen its UK-based supply chain in line with government ambitions to boost domestic manufacturing and resilience.

“We are delivering a truly sovereign dual-use capability for the UK and the Government’s investment strengthens that effort,” said Windracers Founder and Chairman Stephen Wright.

“The benefits reach far beyond defence – right through to our local engineering partners, manufacturing specialists and the wider market. This support is creating a positive ripple across local communities and the economy.”

Windracers remains committed to advancing autonomous aviation and delivering systems that enhance the UK’s capability in this rapidly evolving area.
